Happy Independance Day!

Reading around the blogosphere I found some cute things to help celebrate our freedom today! I pray that we will always have our constitutional liberties!




I found the next piece on A life in Pages.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence?

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died.

Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.

Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army;

another had two sons captured.

Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War.

They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor.

What kind of men were they?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners;
men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured.

Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags


Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly.
He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him,
and poverty was his reward..

Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton.

At the battle of Yorktown , Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was
destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt.

Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months.
John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished.

So, take a few minutes while enjoying your 4th of July holiday and silently thank these patriots. It's not much to ask for the price they paid.

Philbrook with Cousins

These pics are from Easter weekend while we were in Tulsa. We went to Philbrook museum with Emma, Julia and Jim's mom Alice. It was such a beautiful day. The next day was Easter and it was so cold and rainy!

12 years ago today


Jim and I were married! Here we are enjoying the bubbly! Lol!

After church and lunch today, I got out my wedding dress and put it on. It still fit for the most part with a bit of zipper issues.

Olivia and Ava got to put it on too. Someday those pictures just may appear here!

Cake Balls

This post was entirely inspired by Bakerella. Here are her directions on how to do this. She is amazing how she has decorated them so many ways.
For our production we just did a simple version but we had alot of fun with them. Maybe we will try them again during summer.


Step 1, Bake a cake.


Step 2 Crumble cake.



Step 3 Add about 1/2 to 3/4 can of icing to crumbled cake.

Step 4. Form the mixture into balls.


Step 5. Dip the balls into chocolate. We used white chocolate chips which didn't work too well.




Decorate and eat!

I finally uploaded 250 pics from my camera to my computer. I haven't deleted them off my camera card just yet. For your viewing pleasure here are just a few pics of our life. More to come soon!

I have this little hang up. . .

and I wish that was the end of the story. Not once but twice my computers have failed me. Of course there was the break in where our laptops were stolen. That was terrible.

The next bad thing was the death of my computer, yes the next one. The hard drive just overheated and nothing was salvageable.

The bottom line is I've lost pictures and that makes me so sad! Fortunately I have a ton of pictures on my camera that I hadn't downloaded before the untimely death of my computer. Here is my hang up. I want to make sure I save my pictures in a place where I can retrieve them. Backing them up to a sure fire way not to lose them.

That being said I still haven't done it. Perhaps that is why my blog is picture less at this time.

What do you do with your digital pictures and how do you save them FOREVER?
